Brown v. Board of Education Anniversary Feature

May 17th, 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling on Brown v. Board of Education. This month we celebrate this important moment in American history with articles highlighting the Supreme Court Decision, perspectives on the battle to integrate schools, the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Park, and imagery of desegregation.

IMPACT Social Studies program author Dr. James A. Banks was a seventh grade African American student when the Brown v. Board of Education ruling was announced. He has written about his perspective at length in Multicultural Perspectives Volume 6, 2004 – Issue 4.
